Joelle Achkar


Joelle, born in 1984, is a young Lebanese illustrator who studied in Lebanon in the Lebanese Academy of fine Arts, (ALBA- University of Balamand).

Her first years of higher education were spent in Media, Art and Advertising. For the third year, she specialized in Illustration achieving a high distinction BA illustration degree, and then went on to complete an MA in Illustration where she was also awarded a high distinction.

The 28th of February 2008 marks the launch of her illustrated book for adults, “Faits et Méfaits” a series of 40 illustrated stories, co-edited by L’Orient Le Jour and ALBA.
This book is the first project of Silex, an NGO whose aim is to promote and encourage young Lebanese talents.

Ever since she has finished university, Joelle has been working as a freelancer.
Pijamati, Tannourati, and Hissani Habboub are Arabic children books she was commissioned to illustrate.
